Hi lovies! I don’t know about you guys, but this cold weather is totally destroying my skin. I already struggle with dry skin in the summer so you can imagine the struggle with these cold temps! Dry skin does not make for a nice canvas for make-up…you can see the dry patches right through my foundation and my skin starts to flake…oy vey! I have put together a list of how to conquer the dry skin look and show this cold weather who’s boss!
Have a great moisturizer: prime your skin with a great daytime moisturizer, something that is light weight and not too oily! If you do choose to use a moisturizer that is oily, make sure to not use a luminous foundation…who has time to look like a greased chicken…but if that’s your style, you do you! For the nighttime, go for a heavier moisturizer, something that will keep your skin hydrated through out the night. I really like the First Aide Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, Intense Therapy, for the daytime and then the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream for the nighttime. Both can be found at Sephora.
Use an oil or serum: mix an oil, such as Argan, with your moisturizer. I really like Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. I know OGX, Organix, and Suave have oils for a reasonable price! Not only will oil give you a luminous finish to your foundation, it will keep you hydrated throughout the entire day! Ummm yes please! Again, when adding a beauty oil to your foundation, make sure the foundation isn’t luminous to begin with.
Tinted moisturizer: some people think tinted moisturizers are only meant for the beach, however I really like wearing them as my foundation during the dry months. I tried this method one day and completely fell in love! I found that the tinted moisturizer had really good coverage while being extremely moisturizing…I know, who would have thought right??...lately I have been using the Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer.
MAC Fix+/skin refresher: before you put your foundation on, sprtiz your applicator with some fix+ or any skin refresher and apply your foundation to your hearts content! Fix+ or any other skin refresher can also be used after your make up is complete. Why does this work, you ask?? Well Fix+ contains mostly water and glycerin. Glycerin is the key player as it is a liquid mostly produced from vegetable oil, so it keeps your skin super moisturized! Use the refresher through out the day as needed!
Keep warm!
XOXO
